Moston – Single storey extension and remodel
Open plan kitchen, living and dining area created
Feature rooflight
Reinsulated property walls and roof up to current standards
Rematching existing brickwork to enhance the overall appearance of the property
In late 2021, Peck Mill Projects teamed up with Hough Architecture at a property in Moston, Sandbach. Our clients aspiration was to add a single storey extension along the rear of the property to create an open plan kitchen, living and dining area.
Over the last 25 years the property has been tweaked to ensure the property met its full potential. Due to these tweaks, the bricks on the existing property had become mismatched (65mm to 80mm bricks with numerous colours and textures) therefore, we worked with our client to decide where the new bricks would be best suited to ensure we provided the most aesthetically pleasing extension.
Along the way our team encountered numerous challenges: The property was originally built on a salt brine, due to this we required a raft foundation to be built. Thankfully, our in house groundworks team built the foundation in a short time frame despite the December weather challenges.
Due to the year the property was originally built, the cavity walls, floor and roof had minimal insulation! Our team reinsulated the property to ensure everything was up to modern day building standards. We are proud to report despite these unexpected matters, project was completed on time and within our clients budget.
SUMMARY
The open plan layout created in this property promotes a sense of connectivity and allows for easy interaction between family and guests. The extension encompasses thoughtful design with expert construction to successfully transform the house into a more versatile and contemporary living space, with new access to the garden area.
